This is a quick blog post on how to reset the password of a VCSA/vCenter after the 90 days expiration.
Error Message: ”Exception in invoking authentication handler User password expired”
Problem
So haven’t turned my lab off for the last 6months, I found out I could no longer log in to the VCSA vCenter appliance. School boy error on the password expiry in VCSA
With the follow error
”Exception in invoking authentication handler User password expired”
Solution
I could still login into the appliance via SSH. Then invoke the shell command, and reset the root password with the passwd command;
Now if you wish, you can Disable VCSA Password Expiration: Administration > Edit > No > Save.
